| Version 1.26 |
|
Hello everyone
Version 1.26 is available for download from the Downloads page.
This version has re-enabled the Move Player button that many have been asking about on the player list window.
A Check for Update button has been added to the Program Options window so that you can check immediately if a new update is available and not just every 7 days that is done automatically.
Also when in ModManager mode and displaying the ModManager ban list you can now click the Save Banlist button to save the modmanager XML banlist file to disc as requested.
Finally just fixed some oddities that were in the program and not quite rtight.
INSTALL NOTE: Please ensure you export your current server profiles before installing this new version, I dont know why but the install system seems to overwrite the configuration file, but the update system does not. Once installed you can then use the Import button to bring your server profiles back into the program.
Also make sure you are running the latest version of ModManager on your server available from the Downloads page of this site.

| New Version, 1.25 |
|
Hey guys, I have been doing alot of testing with this release and I feel it is ready to be released now.
Important Info:
There are some considerations to take with this release. Unfortunately you will need to unistall version 1.20/1.21 if you have those installed.
You can still import you old config from version 1.11 and earlier through the Options window. This version will allow you to import and export version 1.25 and higher server profiles. so there should be no issues in the future.
New Features of Version 1.25
1. New windows installer - This checks for updates and installs into secure location. You are given start menu shortcuts and can remove with add/remove control panel
2. Added GUI for ModManager Ban System
3. Added Warn Players Menu to Playerlist
4. Added Import/Export Server profiles to front page
5. You can now easily Import and Export MM Messages and setup - These are prefixed with the associated server profile name
6. Progress bar now appears when you change to another map to give better feedback
Fixes/Changes:
1. Tweaked ModManager Playerlist - should no longer need patches to keep it working when new script versions come out
2. Found 2 bugs in Gamespy query function - fixed now and tested on several 64 player servers with no issues
3. Map List has similar style Player list page now with easier to understand representation of map mode and size
4. Much improved feedback from Add Map function
5. Ban I.P and Ban CD Key menus are now one - When banning someone you get a new confirm window where you choose from I.P/Key/PB or ModManager ban types
6. Removed tickets display from Gamespy playerlist window since Gamespy does not show tickets correctly
7. Several tweaks of memory and bandwidth useage to improve performance
8. Save/Load Banlist buttons are now on the banlist page for Gamespy mode
9. Setting of the ban length is now set on the Ban List page toolbar
10. Weblinks should be working for everyone now
11. server profile list is sorted alphabetically now
12. Added options for error/chat logging and tool tips
13. Error sound is Off by default now
Installation:
If you have modmanager running on your server, you must make sure its the latest version (1.2 RC6 available from Downloads page)
Make sure version 1.20 or 1.21 of this program are uninstalled before installing this version first.
Program links are added to your start menu and the program can be removed using your add/remove control panel.
Have fun with it and let us know of any issues you encounter

| Forums Restored! |
|
Hey guys. Had a bit of a nightmare restoring the DB on my new host. It kept running out of memory and so I had to spend 30 mins manually copying and pasting the queries in parts. but its all back online now and accessible through the Forum menu item at the top.
I have a new release of my program in testing just now. A few things about it.
The web install version is no longer going to be offered as it buggered up.
Everyone will download an installer for the program. If you have the web installed version or the downloaded zip file version you will need to remove these first and make a note of your server settings unfortunatly.
This is because the zip version just overwrites all your current settings :( The only way to upgrade it and keep the settings is to use the windows installer.
The new version will also check every 7 days for a new update from the site which you can download and update if you wish, or download the newer versions installer from the site.
Other Features that have been added:
The new version will allow you to export and import your server profiles now too.
New GUI for the new ModManager BanSystem
Reduction in data being sent and recieved by the program
Updated map list with much more feedback from the add map command
Fixed Gamespy Query for all sizes of servers, should be no problems at all with this now
Updated ModManager player list query to ensure it stays working even with updates to the ModManager scripts
Added Warn player playerlist menu item
When banning a player you get a new confirm box where you can choose I.P, CD Key, PB or the New ModManager ban methods
Numerous requested tweaks and much neater data grids that work better.
Those with non standard installs of windows should be able to launch the web sites from the about page now too.
Thats all for now.
PS: Euro Forces works fine with this release and should be fine with the previous releases to for those wondering.

| Battlefield 2 Remote Server Manager 1.20 Released |
|
As mentioned at the end of last year I have been working on a new version of my program using the new Microsoft developement tools that have recently been released.
As a result I have made a number of developments with the program.
These include the following:
1. New Automatic Downlaod and install from website installer (Web Install) 2. Automatic checking for program updates as they are released (Web Install) 3. New Fileless XML Configuration system 4. Server Profile importer from Version 1.10 and higher 5. Selection of tasks to be run at connection to server 6. Ability to modify the programs timers to aid users differing circumstances 7. New Drop Down Tool bar for the playerlist which is much eaiser to use and clearer 8. Detailed player info window added showing player's class, flag caps, assists and stats (Requires ModManager) 9. Ingame chat is logged when chat window is open (Requires ModManager) 10. New error sound is played when program records a serious error to the error log 11. Minimize to system tray added for compactness 12. Complete rewrite of program configuration system using Dot Net 2.0
Some have concerns about the security of Microsoft's new deployement system for applications, so to accommodate everyone there are 2 versions of this new version to download and install.
Automatic Web install with Automatic Updates
Note: Do not use Firefox, It cannot handle the .application extention for some reason
This version is a fully automated web installer that checks that you have everything needed to run the program before installing.
This version of the program automatically checks and tells you when a new version has been published by myself allowing you to update to the newest version.
You can start the program from the start menu and copy that shortcut to wherever you would like it to start the program.
Get it here
Downloadable Zip File without Automatic Updates
This version is the same program but you download it as a .zip file and use it in the same way as before.
Note: This version does not have automatic updates built into it Also make sure that you install Microsoft Dot Net Framework 2.0 1st as this version does not check for it.
Get this version here
Finally both versions will ask you if you wish to import your server profiles from your previous version. If you say Yes to this. you then need to browse to your BF2 RCON folder that Contains the SETTINGS folder and click ok.
Please post any problems and feedback on the forum about the new version. Thank you.

| Update on current developments |
|
I have been quite busy with my program and the site for it. Below is some more infomation on each
I am writing a fairly large update to the program currently which will move the codebase from VB.NET 2002 and Dot Net Framework 1.1 to VB 2005 and Dot Net Framework 2.0.
There are two big things that you will need to know about,
1st that this new version will not be compatible with the current versions of BF2 Rcon. All of the config files in the settings folder are no longer required as the programs config is soley driven through a new XML config system. You will have the option to import your current config files into the new version when you 1st start it.
2nd the method of how you get the program is different. The new version will install directly from this website and it has the added bonus of checking and installing Dot Net Framework 2.0 for you if you do not have it.
Finally the new version will automatically check for new versions of the program published by me in future and will ask you if you wish to update. so you will only have to download it once effectively.
With the website I have upgraded the backend from standard HTML code to using PHP code and a news posting script so that I can update the websites content in future without reauthoring it each time.
I am currently beta testing the new version with various people and should be looking at a release soon.

| Battlefield 2 Remote Server Manager 1.05 Changes |
|
While version 1.04 is pretty stable and working ok there have been some developments with the serverside code of the BF2 servers and so got alot more add functionatly that can be used in the rcon program. As a result I have been busy working on writing version 1.05 which will add and improve alot of features, heres a quick look at them:
New Features: Added Remove Map button to maps page - this allows you to delete a map from the map rotation if you no longer want it in there Added Add Map dialog to maps page - this allows you to add custom maps and at present you can set which version of the map is loaded (16/32/64 players) and works on Ranked servers Added Save MapList button to maps page - allows you to save the current maplist to disk if the servers maplist gets corrupted Added Right Click context menus to the Kick and Ban buttons on the players page - these allow you to give a reason in game as to why you kicked/banned the player Added Remaining Tickets for each team and the current team names to players page - this is a result of the new ModManager admin scripts being developed by Multiplay UK Added Ingame chat console to players page via the Server Chat button - this allows you to see whats being said in game and type in chat messages that everyone on the server can see Added Server Setup tab to the program - this allows you to see the server config and change it to your liking - you can also save the setup to disk, and load it from file onto the server Added Save BanList and Load BanList buttons to the options window - this allows you to save the current ban list and reload it onto the server if it goes missing Added Auto Player Refresh toggle to options window - this allows you to turn on and off the auto updating of player infomation Added ModManager/Gamespy toggle for the query method - this allows you to use the new method of getting player infomation or the old gamespy method (gamespy is needed if ModManager admin scripts dont exist)
Changes: Improved Gamespy Error handling - no longer causes any crashes in the program Added in new ModManager method of getting player infomation - much more stable and much less prone to causing errors (prefered method)
I am currently testing all this out, but currently looks very good and not had any crashes in a long time now (well since the introduction of version 1.04) these new features should make the program even better!

| Battlefield 2 Remote Server Manager 1.04 Released |
|
Its been a long time since I wrote a server manager program, but now Battlefield 2 has been released and theres no Black Bag Ops remote server manager program this time around. So I have decided to write my own version again. Mainly for use on Multiplay UK servers which have their own Clanforge Server management tool to set up the server itself.
This version is written in MS Dot Net and not the older version 6 that the previous programs were written in. Because of this you will need to make sure that you have the Microsoft Dot Net Framework 1.1 installed ( MS Dot Net Framework 1.1 ) you can get the BF 2 Remote Server Manager program here: bf2rcon.zip
